Hybrid Homeschool:

If you have a heart for homeschooling, but don’t know where to start, we are here for you! Our hybrid homeschooling program is open for children in TK through 5th grades. Students attend school on campus from 8:15 AM to 2:30 PM, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. During this time, we introduce new concepts, hold class discussions, teach through cooperative projects, reinforce learning with games and manipulatives, and build community. On Tuesday and Thursday, students learn from home. As a part of our hybrid homeschooling program, families are welcome to participate in school field trips, Open Houses, performances, and other school events.

Teacher Check-Ins:

We don’t want you to feel alone in homeschooling, so Discovery Christian Academy creates opportunities for Regular Teacher Check-ins. Unless preempted by a field trip or holiday, join us on Monday afternoons to discover creative teaching tips and strategies. We also review concepts that will be taught that week. Can’t remember how to tackle long division or the difference between a subject and a predicate? We’ve got you covered. Teacher Check-ins will also give you a chance to socialize with other parents in your child’s class as we work through topics together.

Curriculum:

As students in our hybrid homeschool program learn both at school and home, Discovery Christian Academy provides all the curriculum to create a smooth learning experience. We primarily use Purposeful Design Publications by Associated Christian Schools International. We also integrate literature, teacher-created materials, manipulatives, and games. There will be worksheets and writing assignments, but our Project Based Learning model also guides student learning through a hands-on educational approach. With hybrid homeschool, you can enrich our curriculum to meet the needs of your child. For example, you might add to a unit on measurement through a lesson in cooking after we have engineered a scale that will balance equally weighted objects at school.
